Medical Dosimetrist job

Job Summary

The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for developing accurate and effective radiation treatment plans under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist and in collaboration with Medical Physicists and Radiation Therapists. The role ensures optimal dose distribution while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues, in compliance with clinical protocols and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and calculate radiation treatment plans using treatment planning systems.
  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and Radiation Therapists to ensure optimal treatment delivery.
  • Perform dose calculations and optimize treatment plans based on physician prescriptions.
  • Utilize imaging data (CT, MRI, PET) to assist in treatment planning and contouring.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and departmental protocols.
  • Conduct plan quality assurance checks prior to treatment delivery.
  • Document treatment plans and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Participate in chart rounds, peer reviews, and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new treatment techniques and technologies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to regulatory and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Dosimetry, Radiation Therapy, or a related field.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Dosimetry program.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by MDCB (Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board).
  • State licensure, if required.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Medical Dosimetrist preferred (new graduates may be considered).
  • Experience with modern treatment planning systems (e.g., Eclipse, Pinnacle, Ray Station).
  • Familiarity with IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, and 3D-CRT planning techniques.
  • Experience working in a clinical radiation oncology setting is preferred.

Pay: $65.00 – $95.00 per hour
