Riceland Healthcare’s Jennifer East Receives NP of the Year Award

Riceland Healthcare is proud to announce that Nurse Practitioner and Endocrinology Specialist, Jennifer East, was honored with the Award of Nurse Practitioner of the Year (NP of the Year) by the Southeast Texas Nurse Practitioners. Known for her empathetic and compassionate care and for improving care for individuals, families, and their community, Jennifer has demonstrated excellence as a role model for other nurse practitioners.

The Endocrinology Clinic in Nederland, Texas, located at 2400 FM 365, Suite 112, is no stranger to recognition. Jennifer was awarded Nurse Practitioner of the Year in 2015 and the Community Service Award in 2017, as noted in Texas House Resolution 90. In 2021, she was voted “Best of the Best” by the Beaumont Enterprise for NP specializing in Endocrinology.

Jennifer has served as a local representative (2014–2015) and as NP President for the Texas Nurse Practitioners, was former Communications Chair and President of Southeast Texas Nurse Practitioners for 4 years, and has served on their Board of Directors as Community Affairs Director and Treasurer.

“This is a tremendous honor, especially considering the large number of qualified candidates who would be eminently deserving of this award over the past year,” Jennifer said . “My grandmother was a nurse for many years. Also, my biology and chemistry teachers in high school were a big influence. I always knew I wanted to be in healthcare in some capacity or another. I am proud to be a part of Riceland Healthcare as we look to expand access to health care for people across the region and state.”

Her colleagues praise Jennifer as being a leader and role model in providing high‑quality, safe, and compassionate healthcare. Saad Asad, CEO of Riceland Healthcare, said that Jennifer is “a true champion for easily accessible, advanced healthcare in Southeast Texas.”

“This annual award is a testament to Jennifer’s unwavering commitment to excellence in clinical care, her leadership within the healthcare community, and her ongoing contributions to the field.”

The Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award is granted to individuals who demonstrate exceptional clinical skills, compassion for patients, and a commitment to advancing the practice of nursing. It should also be noted that Riceland’s Chelsi Clayton received the NP of the Year award last year.

With an estimated 355,000 NPs in over 1 billion visits each year, it clearly shows the growing importance of this vital healthcare sector.

As clinicians who blend clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating health conditions with an added emphasis on disease prevention and health management, Nurse Practitioners bring a comprehensive perspective to healthcare.

Riceland Healthcare is comprised of a network of physicians, hospitalists, and other service providers dedicated to providing the highest quality, affordable patient care across Southeast Texas and is well‑known to be a premier healthcare group providing best‑possible outcomes with exceptional patient‑care experiences.
