Job Summary
Riceland Healthcare is seeking a compassionate, highly organized, and clinically skilled **Oncology Nurse Navigator (RN)** to support patients through every phase of the cancer care continuum. The Nurse Navigator serves as a key clinical resource for patients and families by providing education, symptom triage support, coordination of care, and communication across the multidisciplinary oncology team. This role promotes timely access to care, improves patient experience, and supports quality, safety, and treatment adherence.
Clinical Navigation & Support
- Provide patient & family education on cancer diagnoses, treatment plans, side effects, and symptoms.
- Perform **clinical triage** for treatment-related symptoms and ensure timely escalation to providers.
- Support initiation of oncology treatment plans (medical oncology, radiation, infusion therapy).
- Reinforce provider instructions, plan of care, follow-up needs, and transitions.
- Identify barriers to care and coordinate solutions to promote treatment schedule adherence.
Care Coordination & Quality
- Coordinate referrals and appointments for testing, imaging, pathology, and specialty consults.
- Collaborate with infusion staff, oncology pharmacy, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Document all navigation interactions, education, triage actions, and coordination in the **EMR**.
- Track navigation metrics (time to consult, missed appointments) and support tumor board processes.
Education & Licensing
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- **Active, unrestricted RN license in the State of Texas.**
- **BLS required** (ACLS preferred depending on department requirements).
Experience & Skills
- **Minimum 5 years** of nursing experience required.
- Must include **at least 2 years** of oncology, infusion, hematology, or cancer care experience.
- **OCN certification** is strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong clinical assessment, oncology symptom triage, and EMR skills.
Physical Requirements & Setting
Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, handle frequent interruptions, and maintain high emotional stability under challenging diagnostic care paths.
