Medical Assistant
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support physicians and nurses by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring high-quality patient care and smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take and record patient vital signs and medical histories
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist during exams
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
- Perform basic laboratory tests
- Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician
- Conduct EKGs, remove sutures, and change dressings
- Assist with minor procedures and ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments
- Greet and check in patients
- Update and maintain patient medical records (EMR/EHR systems)
- Handle telephone calls and messages
- Process billing and insurance paperwork
- Manage office inventory and supplies
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program (certificate or diploma)
- Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Work Environment:
- Primarily a clinical office setting
- Frequent interaction with patients, physicians, and staff
- May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
- Exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases possible
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 – $18.00 per hour
