We are looking for a Director of Nursing for our Hospice who will supervise the overall clinical operation of hiring, training/developing, and directing staff in the provision of the agency service, chart audits and clinical functions in compliance with agency policy and procedure and Texas state regulations. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, detail oriented and has at least two years of experience as DON Hospice.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Directs and oversees clinical activities of the organization, including the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports and records for the purposes of reporting of organization activities and regulatory compliance.
  • Assures the quality and safe delivery of hospice services provided through the organization.
  • Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume that could impact staffing levels, revenues or expenses.
  • Assists with the evaluation of organizational performance via program in quarterly and annual reviews.
  • Develops, recommends, and administers the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Administrator in the preparation and administration of the organization's budget.
  • Acts as a liaison between nursing staff and other verticals of our healthcare system.
  • Promotes hospice referrals in the healthcare community.
  • Provides leadership in planning, development, coordination, and implementation of nursing care services.
  • Directs programs through delegation to supervisory staff to insure appropriate admission, discharge, supervision, and provision of services to clients.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of adequate and appropriate inventory supplies and equipment for the provision of patient services.
  • Can perform functions of field nursing staff.  May be required to perform field assignments.
  • Participates in on-call coverage.
  • Collaborates with service providers furnishing contracted services to clients to effectively manage services.
  • Recruits, orients, develops, supervises, and evaluates the performance of nursing staff.
  • Plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet education and training needs of nursing staff at least quarterly.
  • Assures compliance with all local, state and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of nursing staff and maintains compliance to the Hospice Care standards.
  • Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and hospice care; shares information with appropriate nursing staff.
